About Seven Days of Opening Nights
Since 1999, Florida State University's Seven Days of Opening Nights has been opening people's minds to the importance of the arts by presenting Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award winners, dance companies, acting troupes, musical ensembles and world-premiere films. Now in its 10th year, the festival has showcased world-class performers and artists such as Joshua Bell, the Boston Pops, Garth Fagan Dance, mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves, filmmaker Jonathan Demme, songwriter Kris Kristofferson and author Stephen King.
The festival's primary goal is education, so artists at the festival work with students through master classes, lectures, readings and exhibits. As a direct result of Seven Days, students have received internships and scholarships for specialized summer programs, and post-graduate positions in dance and theatre companies.
