The Seven Days Mural Project

The Seven Days Mural Project

February 9-20 (ongoing throughout festival)

“You look up at that wall and it’s just plain fun. It grabs your eye and it’s full of color and energy. You can’t beat that.”

The inaugural Seven Days Mural project last season – co-sponsored by the City of Tallahassee and the FSU Art Education Department – was a roaring success. Over the course of the festival, an ever-shifting group of more than 200 FSU students, community members and Leon County K-12 students worked to turn a drab corner of Railroad Avenue and Gaines Street into a celebration of arts and culture.

At the unveiling, Mayor John Marks said, “It represents all that is good about Tallahassee – the arts, our vision of Gaines Street as a community gathering place, and our success at working together to make a meaningful difference.”

When something works that well, you need to do it again. So once more – in collaboration with the City and FSU’s Art Ed Department – Seven Days will sponsor a celebratory piece of art created by the community, for the community, during the course of the festival. Location TBD.
