“Hussain (is) a fearsome technician…the blur of his fingers rivals the beat of a hummingbird’s wings.” – New York Times

Two incredible musicians combine for one night of scintillating Indian classical music.

Internationally regarded as one of the greatest musicians in the world, Zakir Hussain is a classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order whose consistently brilliant and exciting performances have established him as one of India’s reigning cultural ambassadors. Widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement, Zakir's historic collaborations include Shakti with John McLaughlin and L. Shankar, Planet Drum with the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, and performances with George Harrison, Yo-Yo Ma, Joe Henderson, Van Morrison, Mark Morris and dozens of others. His extraordinary contributions to music were honored in 2009 with four sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall’s Artist Perspective series.

Chaurasia has performed with jazz players, flamenco musicians and on film soundtracks, but is now dedicating himself to mastery of Indian classical music, following the path of his uncle, legendary Indian flute maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia.
